UIL naming ‘All Century Teams’

The University Interscholastic league (UIL) is naming "All Century Teams" and Waxahachie Independent School District has a chance to have three former players named to the basketball team (football and volleyball has already been released).

Alumni candidates from WHS include:  nominated as a guard, KaShayla Hawkins, 2002 WHS graduate;  nominated as a forward, Desmond Mason, 1996 WHS graduate; and nominated as a center, Phil Reynolds, 1958 WHS graduate. 

KaShayla Hawkins is a nominee for the girls team.  She played basketball all four years at WHS and was a member of the all-state team three times.  She went on to play basketball for UT-Arlington.

Desmond Mason went on to play for Oklahoma State and now plays in the NBA for the Sacramento Kings. 

He was the 2001 Slam Dunk contest winner and has been in the NBA for nine seasons.

Phil Reynolds played basketball for Hachie from 1954-1958 and was a member of the 1958 state championship team.  He went on to play for TCU.

For the girls team, you can vote until Feb. 13.

For the boys team, you can vote until Feb. 20.
