DESOTO — The six DeSoto High School football players who earned 2009 Texas 5A All-State honors, along with the four who earned Academic All-State, were honored at the January 11 Board Meeting. The DeSoto High School Football Team advanced to the playoffs after finishing the season co-district champs with a record of 4-1 (9-3 overall) along with John Tyler and Tyler Lee. After a first round playoff victory over Bryan, the Eagles lost to Skyline in the second round 41-36 at SMU.
2009 Texas 5A All-State Awards: 1st Team All-State Offense Tackle Evan Washington (oral commit to LSU); 2nd Team All-State Offense Tackle Marcus Hutchins (junior), Wide Receiver Darius Terrell (oral commit to Univ. of Texas); Honorable Mention Offense Quarterback Ryan Polite (junior), Running Back Marcus Murphy (oral commit to Missouri); Honorable Mention Defense Cornerback Adrian (AJ) White (oral commit to Univ. of Texas)
In addition, Evan Washington and Adrian White played in the 2010 Under Armour All-America Classic Game on January 2 for the nation’s top collegiate prospects. Both were on the black team, which also included Claude Mathis as the wide receivers coach, and defeated the white team 32-7. Both have garnered Under Armour All-America rankings and White was also named to the ESPN 150 ranking of the top 150 prospects in the nation. Evan was also named to the first team of the MaxPreps 2009 High School Football All-American Team.
