Ferris’ playoff hopes shattered by Kaufman, 19-7

FERRIS – Ferris and Kauf-man battled Friday, Nov. 6 for the third and final available playoff spot.

At the end of four quarters, Kaufman prevailed with a 19-7 win over the Yellowjackets.

Kaufman held Ferris scoreless through the entire first half while putting up six points in the first quarter on a 37-yard touchdown pass from Austin McDaniel to Chad Walker.

The Lions took the 6-0 lead into the locker rooms at the half.

Ferris held onto a fleeting lead in the third quarter after James Hopkins rushed from five yards out to make it 7-6.

Kaufman regained the lead on a 45-yard run by Kailion Hughey in the third.

Ferris was held scoreless once again in the fourth quarter and watched as their play-off hopes were dashed by a one-yard run by Hughey that allowed Kaufman to snatch up the final play-off spot. Ferris finished the 2009 season at 5-5.
