ADVERTISEMENTS

The Hawks hos-ted the Mid-lothian Panthers on Thursday, May 14 to begin the area baseball playoffs in best of three game series.

If you like a lot of offense, then these two teams were the one to watch.

It would be the Panthers who struck first scoring three runs heading into the bottom of the third.

Just as the Panthers scored three quick runs, the Hawks answered back in the bottom of the third by scoring three runs themselves and tying the game.

In the fifth inning the Panther’s third baseman, Chase Watts, jacked one out of the park for a two home runner giving the Panthers a 5-3 lead until the bottom of the sixth.

The Hawks became aggressive on the bases and a couple of mental mistakes allowed the Hawks to take a 6-5 lead.

However, the Panthers were not done scoring and in the top of the seventh added four more runs to take the lead back 9-6.

The Hawks, desperately, trying to win game one at home were only able to add one more run and fell to the Panthers 9-7. Game two of the series moved to Midlothian Friday night and it would turn out to be a near repeat of game one with lots of offense and lots of runs.

Once again, the Panthers would come out on top winning 10-6 and sweeping the Hawks in the series.
