Red Oak and Midlothian High Schools take part in powerlifting competition

CEDAR HILL - Red Oak and Midlothian High Schools were two of several private, 4A, and 5A schools who took part in a powerlifting competition Saturday hosted by Cedar Hill High School. 

The following athletes participated for Red Oak High School: Jason Bethel, Sophomore, 840 lbs. total weight; Dave McGee, Junior, 720 lbs. total weight (tied personal best); Eric Ray, Sophomore, 1,040 lbs. total weight (personal best). 

Red Oak Senior Seth Evans lifted a personal best 1,640 lbs. total weight placing first in the 275 lb. weight class. 

Evans is currently first in State in his weight class for 4A and 5A powerlifters. 

Red Oak’s Colby Houston lifted a combined 1,215 lbs. placing fifth in the heavy weight division. Red Oak Sophomore Blake Mirowitz placed fifth in the 123 lb. weight class with 840 lbs. lifted. 

Blake added 15 lbs. to his previous weight.

He is also the first Red Oak Freshman to letter in powerlifting.

Midlothian High School participants were as follows: Donte Floyd, Senior, 1,175 lbs. total weight; Brandon Freeman, Senior, 1,220 lbs. total weight; Collin Hoffstad, Freshman, 530 lbs. total weight; Chad Richards, Senior, 1,210 lbs. total weight; Vincent Sellars, Sophomore, 780 lbs. total weight. 

Midlothian Junior Brent Middleton placed third in the 148 lb. weight class with a total of 1,035 lbs. lifted.
