Dallas - There is something about opening day for the SAGU Soccer Lady Lions. Head coach Jeremy Tosaya needs to schedule more opening days each season.

Last year, at home, the Lady Lions defeated Dallas Christian College by a 5-1 score and Allison Malcolm scored four goals.

This year, in Dallas, the Lady Lions defeated Dallas Christian College by a 9-0 score.

The game did produce another four-goal performance, this time freshman Elyse James equaled Malcolm’s total from last year. Five other girls hit home goals to give the Lady Lions their nine-goal total.

Both Malcolm and James posted two assists.

On the defensive side of the ball, the SAGU defense was stifling, allowing Tracy Griffin to earn her first shutout and the first shutout in program history.

On Saturday, the SAGU Soccer players will have another opening day of sorts, their home opener against Central Christian College. The SAGU Men will play at 1 p.m. and the Women will play at 3 p.m.

Briefly: The SAGU Men Soccer team played a scrimmage against Dallas Christian and won 2-1. The Lions open the season on Saturday at 1 p.m.
