Thus it appears the SAGU Baseball Camp, in its third year, has become a June tradition for SAGU Baseball who opens its doors to baseball players between the ages of eight through 13 years old. The morning opened with a wide-open blue sky as the 18 players stretched and warmed up before beginning a day of hitting drills, base running and batting practice. Wednesday the camp focused on pitching and fielding before giving way to a Thursday review of everything taught in the camp.

"For me, it is a rewarding experience to see our players teach these young students of the game what they know about the game of baseball," said SAGU Asst. Baseball Coach Clay Scarbo-rough.

"Hopefully as the SAGU name grows in this region, it will be a legacy kind of thing."

The first day ended just before a strong line of thunderstorms washed away the heat from the morning as the players, tired from three and half hours of baseball, made their way home to rest, awaiting the next day’s excursion into the world of baseball.
