RED OAK – A car chase turned deadly shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday, June 28.

Red Oak Police reported Officer Tyler Robinson attempted to stop a 99’ Silver Nissan Altima on the 300 block of FM 664 for driving erratically when the driver refused to yield, accelerating and turning north onto Houston School Road.

Red Oak Officer Nando Pedrero joined officer Robinson in hot pursuit with the fleeing suspect driving up to 90 miles per hour.

According to a release from ROPD, the suspect, a Hispanic male, lost control of his vehicle at the intersection of Houston School Road and Bear Creek Road colliding with some trees on the west side of the 2700 block of Houston School Road.

Officers Robinson and Pedrero approached the vehicle and observed the driver had sustained serious injuries in the accident and called for Lancaster Fire Department and Emergency Medical Service.

The Dallas County Medical Examiner was notified and responded to the scene and pronounced the driver, Jorge H. Hernandez, 32, of Dallas, dead on arrival before being transported to the DME office for an autopsy.

Dallas County Sheriff’s Office responded and is investigating the incident.
