FERRIS - Officer Larell D. Tolbert Jr. “is no longer with us[Ferris Police Department]”, said Police Chief Sam Love on Tuesday, April 5.

Since the comment from Love a couple months ago, the city has been in legal negotiations with Tolbert.

“I can now say Officer Tolbert is moving on to future opportunities with other area agencies,” said City Manager Eric Strong.

Tolbert’s resignation letter dated Monday, June 13, states: “ I, Larell Tolbert, hereby tender my resignation from the city of Ferris Police Department effective immediately. I sincerely enjoyed my time working for the city of Ferris and am only leaving to pursue other career opportunities.”

Tolbert had been with Ferris Police since November 2007.
