Parkland CEO named a top ‘Physician Leader’
DALLAS – Ron J. Anderson, MD, president and chief executive officer of Parkland Health & Hospital System, has been named to the Becker’s Hospital Review “Physician Leaders of Hospitals and Health Systems” list for the second consecutive year. The list recognizes 65 physician leaders with a vast array of experience in medicine and management who represent some of the brightest leadership in the health care industry.
“It is an honor to be mentioned among other physician leaders of such high caliber, but in the end it is the people around me that make Parkland great,” said Dr. Anderson. “My fellow physicians, my leadership team and every employee in our health system contribute to providing quality care for our community.”
Dr. Anderson came to Parkland in 1973 as an intern, and would go on to serve as medical director of ambulatory and emergency services before being named president and CEO in 1982. Nearly 40 years after arriving, he remains dedicated to Parkland’s mission of helping the medically underserved. His vision of health care for all, regardless of ability to pay, has led to groundbreaking changes to the national health care system, including landmark legislation in 1985 that banned the practice known as patient dumping in Texas.
Becker’s Hospital Review is a bimonthly publication that reaches more than 15,000 people, primarily acute-care hospital CEOs and CFOs.
