On Sunday, June 12,  at 2:05 a.m. Red Oak Officer Dustin Bragg attempted to stop a silver colored Dodge Stratus driving south bound on Interstate 35E at Red Oak Road for an expired registration.

The vehicle failed to yield to Bragg’s emergency lights and siren when Bragg called Red Oak Officer Jason Meeks for assistance.  Meeks caught up to them around the 401 mile marker south bound Interstate 35E in Waxahachie.  Several Ellis County Sherriff Deputies joined the pursuit which continued S/B IH-35E.

Italy Police Department was notified the chase was approaching their city limits and they deployed spike strips that successfully deflated the two left tires of the car.  The car then pulled over to the inside lane and stopped allowing Bragg and Meeks to take the following three suspects into custody:

Charges: Evading Arrest with a vehicle

Possession of a Controlled substance – Methamphetamine

Passenger: Jessica Nicole Kirks 26 of Waco, Texas

The officer’s reports indicated the suspect vehicle never went over 80 miles per hour and was not driving erratically.
