Officials report to early morning apartment fire

LANCASTER – Lancaster Fire Department responded to a two alarm fire at the River Bend Apartments on Monday, March 28.

A press release issued by Captain Dee Dee Hillary stated when firefighters arrived on the scene, flames were showing through the roof of the building, located on the 1100 block of River Bend when a second alarm was quickly called.

The call was received by dispatch at 2:23 a.m. and the fire was contained by 3:10 a.m.

Red Oak, DeSoto, Hutchins, Dallas and Ovilla assisted in the effort to control the flames.

Four families were displaced and the Red Cross was on site to provide help.

As of press time the fire is currently under investigation by the Dallas County Fire Marshall but, the release stated the fire appears to have started on a patio of an apartment and four units were heavily damaged.
