TxDOT preparing for overnight icy conditions

DALLAS–– The National Weather Service has forecasted a chance of severe winter weather in the North Texas area, including Ellis County, until 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10. which may result in hazardous driving conditions.

“Our sanding crews are fully prepared and ready to work around the clock,” said Bill Hale, Dallas District Engineer.

 “Many of our maintenance sections are already on the roads looking for icy conditions to direct our crews to areas of immediate concern in our efforts to keep bridges, overpasses and interchanges open and safe within our district.”

The district’s seven counties all have stockpiles of chat, a sand and salt mixture, and magnesium chloride prepared for winter conditions. Motorist can obtain travel information by calling (800) 452-9292 or by visiting the TxDOT website at www.txdot.gov.
