Can’t feel the Love anymore; Councilman resigns after story breaks
LANCASTER – District 2 Councilman Todd Love’s resignation was confirmed by City Secretary Dolle Downe early Tuesday, Dec. 28. “His letter of resignation was accepted this morning,” said Downe.
Councilman Love said he took much heat after the Thursday, Dec.16 issue of The Ellis County Press hit the stands.
“This [story] makes me look like such a horrible person,” said Love when he called after the issue hit newsstands.
“I think there needs to be another story done, focusing on what good I do for the city to be fair,” said Love.
Love claims he looks “horrible” in the story where he admits taking an exclusive hunting trip paid for by Allied Waste at the Ghost Apache Ranch in Cotulla, Texas just three weeks before voting to approve their contract with the city.
When questioned why he resigned, Love said he, “wasn’t able to respond at this time” before hanging up immediately.
City council must take formal action to accept the resignation at the next council meeting Monday, Jan. 10.
