'Christmas on the Square' this Saturday
FERRIS – The 15th annual "Christmas on the Square" celebration will be held Saturday, Dec. 4 with food, contests, entertainment, a live auction, carnival rides, a hayride and jolly old Saint Nick himself.
The annual event, sponsored by the City of Ferris Main Street Program and the Ferris Downtown Association, is held mostly inside the "big tent" on Main Street.
Beginning at 2 p.m., the parade kicks-off the event in full holiday style with participants from area schools, churches, businesses and individuals alike.
Ribbons will be awarded to the winners of the annual chili cook-off, pie and cake bake-off and candy making contests.
"Home and businesses will be decorated to compete for bragging rights," stated Main Street Director Chuck Dart.
Church choirs, youth groups, solo musicians, and instrumental groups will share their talents throughout the day on stage.
The anticipated lighting of the tree by candlelight will be held at 6 p.m.

According to Dart, Carnival Midway games and rides will be available Friday, Dec.3 and last throughout the evening Saturday, Dec.4.
The day will end with a free showing of Polar Express at 7 p.m.
