Major accident blocks roadway for several hours
FERRIS-Eight people sustained injuries resulting from a two vehicle accident, Sunday, Nov. 28, at 11:27 a.m. east of Ferris at the FM 660 and FM 780 junction.
The accident occurred when the driver of the eastbound Buick Regal, Daniela Dominguez, 19 of Dallas, reportedly failed to yield the right-of-way to an oncoming GMC Yukon driven by Isamar Lupercio, 20 of Ferris.
Seven people in the Buick Regal were transported to hospitals by CareFlite and Air Evac helicopters and Wilmer and Hutchins EMS ambulances.
"I was just behind the gold car and I did not see them yield to the Yukon," said eyewitness to the accident, Nicole Cervantes of Ferris.
"When I got to their car the driver appeared to be unconscious and a man in the back seat looked like he was trapped and not until he was moved did I realize there were two young girls in the floor under him. This scares you. This intersection is dangerous!"
Several other individuals first on the scene assisted as best they could until emergency units from Ferris, Ellis County Sheriff’s office and the State Highway Patrol arrived at the scene of the accident.
Updated conditions of the injured parties were not available as of presstime.
