Glenn Heights Mayor Encourages Citizens to Take Part in Citywide Family Festival
Glenn Heights, TX, October 27, 2010: Recently elected Mayor of Glenn Heights, Victor Pereira, has not strayed from his commitment of promoting citizen involvement since taking office in May of this year. This is evidenced by recent community outreach initiatives such as Citizen Town Hall Meetings, National Night Out events, Fire Prevention Educational Partnerships and on a larger scale, the upcoming City of Glenn Heights Family Festival.
“Events like the Family Festival provide a great opportunity for citizens and community leaders to come together and benefit from all that our City has to offer. Glenn Heights and our neighboring cities have a wealth of talent, businesses and service organizations and we have tried to incorporate all of these aspects into this year’s event.”, said Mayor Pereira. “The Family Festival Committee has worked for nearly a year organizing the festivities. Now we as citizens have to show our support to make the event a success. ”
This year’s event includes a midway of rides and interactive games, safe Halloween alternatives sponsored by the Glenn Heights Fire Department, a Free Throw Shoot-out, petting zoo, a variety of Fall themed activities and numerous food vendors. The Main Stage entertainment line-up includes performers from a variety of venues including school and community organizations, R&B, Rap, Rock, and a Showcase of local Christian/Gospel choirs and performers. Activities will conclude with a fireworks grand finale.
The City of Glenn Heights Family Festival will be held Saturday, October 30, 2010 from 10:00am until dusk at Heritage Park located at 400 E. Bear Creek. In the event of rain, the event will be held at Shields Elementary. Unlimited ride passes and Festival t-shirts can be purchased at City Hall in advance or on the day of the event.
