Public Meeting Scheduled For Sylvan Avenue Bridge
DALLAS COUNTY – The Texas Department of Transportation will host a public meeting to night to discuss and receive input on proposed plans for improvements to the Sylvan Avenue Bridge.
The Public Meeting will be an Open House format from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with no formal presentation. The meeting will be held at the West Dallas Multipurpose Center at 2828 Fish Trap Road, Dallas, Texas 75212. TxDOT strongly values an informed public and invites all interested persons to attend the meeting to review project exhibits, ask questions, discuss and provide feedback on the proposed project.
The proposed project, located in Dallas County, is approximately one mile in length and would modify the existing facility to replace the bridges and approaches crossing the Dallas Floodway from Morris Street to Irving Boulevard. The proposed project also includes a ramp to provide access to Trammell Crow Park and the relocation of an existing boat ramp.
The existing facility is the last remaining at-grade roadway and bridge within the Dallas Floodway. During periods of intensive rain, sheet flood events often overtop the existing facility necessitating closure several times a year. The purpose of the proposed project is to improve motorist and pedestrian safety by providing a highway facility that would meet current design and safety standards.
Project information is on file and available for inspection and copying at City of Dallas, Public Works and Transportation Department, 1500 Marilla Street, Room L1BS, Dallas, Texas 75201.
This public meeting is not a requirement, but rather an opportunity for TxDOT engineers to inform the public and discuss the FM 740 project and pending closure.
