ELLIS COUNTY - The Texas Department of Transportation in cooperation with the City of Ennis will begin construction on FM 1722 from FM 879 to the Lake Clark bridge in Ennis beginning Monday, Sept. 20.

The $3.17 million project is needed to replace aging pavement along FM 1722 and includes safety improvements such as adding three foot shoulders, grading, guardrail, rumble strips and signage.

To expedite construction improvements FM 1722 will periodically be reduced to one lane for the duration of the project. During periodic lane reductions motorists will be stopped and may experience brief delays at each end of the work zone while a pilot car alternates leading motorists through the project. To avoid any daily construction delays on FM 1722, motorists are encouraged to use FM 879 and I-45.

TxDOT and Austin Bridge & Road would like to apologize in advance for any inconvenience, and thank area drivers, local businesses, the City of Ennis and Ellis County for their continued patience and cooperation as crews work diligently to complete this vital project as soon and as safely as possible.
