City of Wilmer, Texas
In accordance with Chapter 211 of the Texas Local Government Code, the Planning & Zoning Commission and the City Council of the City of Wilmer, Texas will hold public hearings to consider a request initiated by the City Council to amend applicable sections of the City’s Zoning Ordinance, Ordinance No. 12.6.88, as amended, to consider adding a definition and criteria for security hardware on buildings (which are commonly referred to as “burglar bars”), and to determine which zoning districts are appropriate for the installation of such (if any). The following sections of the Zoning Ordinance may, or may not, be amended as a result of these proceedings: Section 4 (Definitions), Sections 9 through 17 (Residential and nonresidential zoning district regulations), Section 21 (Supplementary District Regulations), and any other applicable sections, if necessary.
The first public hearing, and possible consideration/action, on the proposed Zoning Ordinance amendments will be held before the Wilmer Planning & Zoning Commission on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at 7:00 p.m.
A second public hearing, and possible consideration/action, on the proposed Zoning Ordinance amendments will be held before the Wilmer City Council on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 7:00 p.m.
Both public hearings will be held in the regular meeting place, the City of Wilmer Community Center, located at 101 Davidson Plaza in Wilmer, Texas.
All persons interested in the proposed amendments to the Zoning Ordinance are invited to attend the public hearings and to provide their comments at that time. Comments may also be submitted in writing (or via fax or email) to the City at least 24 hours prior to the beginning of each public hearing at the following address:
