In accordance with Chapter 211 of the Texas Local Government Code, the Planning & Zoning Commission and the City Council of the City of Wilmer, Texas will hold public hearings to consider a request initiated by Benjamin Pena to amend applicable sections of the City’s Zoning Ordinance, Ordinance No. 12.6.88, as amended, to clarify and better define which zoning districts are appropriate for various types of automotive uses. The proposed amendments are also intended to clarify and improve the definitions for various types of automotive uses, and they may also include the addition of special development standards for various types of automotive uses in some, or possibly all, of the City’s nonresidential zoning districts. The following sections of the Zoning Ordinance may, or may not, be amended as a result of these proceedings: Section 4 (Definitions), Section 13 (C1 Restricted Commercial zoning district regulations), Section 14 (C2 General Commercial zoning district regulations), Section 15 (I1 Light Industrial zoning district regulations), Section 16 (I2 Heavy Industrial zoning district regulations), Section 21 (Supplementary District Regulations), Section 23 (Parking Space Regulations), and any other applicable sections, if necessary.
The first public hearing, and possible consideration/action, on the proposed Zoning Ordinance amendments will be held before the Wilmer Planning & Zoning Commission on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at 7:00 p.m.
A second public hearing, and possible consideration/action, on the proposed Zoning Ordinance amendments will be held before the Wilmer City Council on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 9:30 a.m.
Both public hearings will be held in the regular meeting place, the City of Wilmer Community Center, located at 101 Davidson Plaza in Wilmer, Texas.
All persons interested in the proposed amendments to the Zoning Ordinance are invited to attend the public hearings and to provide their comments at that time. Comments may also be submitted in writing (or via fax or email) to the City at least 24 hours prior to the beginning of each public hearing at the following address:
