TxDOT NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING

PROPOSED PLEASANT RUN ROAD GRADE SEPARATION AT MILLERS FERRY ROAD AND UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), in cooperation with the City of Wilmer, will conduct a Public Meeting on June 28, 2011, for the proposed Pleasant Run Road grade separation project at Millers Ferry Road and Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) in the city limits of Wilmer, Dallas County, Texas.  The Public Meeting will be held in the Wilmer Community Center located at 101 Davidson Plaza from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm.   

The purpose of the Public Meeting is to present the proposed project and to request your comments on the project.  The Public Meeting will be an “open house” format, with representatives from TxDOT, its consulting engineer, and the City of Wilmer available in an informal setting to answer any questions you may have about the proposed project.  

The proposed project length is approximately 0.76 mile, extending from east of Sunrise Road to west of Interstate Highway 45. Proposed improvements include grade separating Pleasant Run Road over Millers Ferry Road and the UPRR, realigning and widening Pleasant Run Road from a two-lane undivided section to a four-lane urban section, constructing an intersection at Wolf Creek Boulevard with connecting roads to Clayton Crossing subdivision and Millers Ferry Road, and adding a left-turn lane on Millers Ferry Road at the connector. Approximately 17.2 acres of additional right-of-way (ROW) and 2.1 acres of easements are needed to accommodate the proposed improvements and project construction.  The proposed ROW acquisition would impact undeveloped property and commercial property in the project area.  No business or residential properties would be displaced.

The proposed project is located within an area outside of 500-year floodplain of Cottonwood Creek and would not encroach on the floodplain.  No water features or wetlands, natural or constructed, are located within the proposed construction limits.  The proposed project would impact maintained vegetation (grasses and forbs) on undeveloped property and commercial property.  

The project’s environmental document along with maps and drawings showing the project’s location and geometric design will be available for viewing at the Public Meeting.  This information is also available for public inspection and reproduction at the TxDOT Dallas District Office, located at 4777 East Highway 80, Mesquite, Texas 75150, the TxDOT Southeast Dallas County Area Office, 505 South IH 45, Hutchins, Texas 75141, and the City of Wilmer, 128 N. Dallas Avenue, Wilmer, Texas 75172.  Information about the tentative schedules for right-of-way acquisition and construction may be obtained from the TxDOT Dallas District Office.

All interested persons are invited to attend this meeting to obtain information about the project and to express their views.  Persons requiring special communication or accommodation needs should contact the TxDOT Dallas District Public Information Office at (214) 320-6100 at least two (2) working days prior to the Public Meeting so appropriate arrangements can be made.  Because the Public Meeting will be conducted in English, any request for language interpretation or other special communication needs should also be made at least two (2) working days prior to the Public Meeting.  TxDOT will make every reasonable effort to accommodate these needs.

Verbal and written comments from the public regarding the proposed Pleasant Run Road grade separation at Millers Ferry Road and UPRR can be presented at the meeting.  Written comments can also be submitted to:
