The Ellis County Press: Red Oak Youth Baseball Softball trophy and fun day Red Oak Youth Baseball Softball trophy and fun day ================================================================================ Editor on 06/18/2009 16:04:00 Steve Patterson The Ellis County Press The Red Oak Baseball Softball Association (ROBSA) held its annual Trophy Day on Saturday, June 13. Festivities started at 10 a.m. as league president Rodney Bridgers introduced coaches and teams and presented them with their trophies. The ROBSA also rented several inflatable bouncy houses, obstacle courses, and slides for the kids to play on during the day. The League also provided Barbecue sandwiches, chips and drinks for all the players, coaches and parents. Despite the hot temperatures and humidity, the kids were lined up all afternoon to run, bounce, or play on the inflatables. After lunch, the Home Run derby was held on Field 5 to give the kids an opportunity to really hit one over the fence. The kids lined up by age division, but in the youth division it would be a girl that would win the derby. Elizabeth McClanahan, from the girl's 12U Sting softball team, sent two over the left field fence. Board member and Outlaws coach, Craig Jennings won the 35 and over Home Run contest. The always entertaining coaches wrapped up the day. Although there were plenty of opportunities for pulled muscles, backs and strained quads, the friendly game ended in a tie. The league had another great season and will begin fall baseball sign ups soon. You can always check out the latest news on the league's web site at http://www.eteamz .com/robsa.
