The Ellis County Press: UNT gives crowd something to cheer about UNT gives crowd something to cheer about ================================================================================ Editor on 01/22/2009 11:23:00 JENNIFER MULHAUSEN The Ellis County Press TEXAS - The University of North Texas' Men's Basketball team hosted the Denver Pioneers last Thursday. Denver started the game fast and furious never giving North Texas the opportunity to catch up. Denver's largest lead came at 3:53 left in the first half when they led by 21 points. By half-time Denver had a commanding lead of 35-16. UNT's half-time talk must have been award-winning because the Mean Green brought the fireworks in the second half. With a little more than 11 minutes left in the second half UNT was trailing by only six points, 48-43. With Denver visibly tiring, UNT began to capitalize on their scoring. The last three minutes of the game was something to write home about. With the crowd on their feet screaming and clapping, the Mean Green breezed by Denver and never looked back on their way to a 69-62 victory.
