The Ellis County Press: Hawks go 1-1 in baseball Hawks go 1-1 in baseball ================================================================================ Steve Patterson on 03/22/2012 11:38:00 RED OAK - The Hawks traveled down the road to Waxahachie on Tuesday, March 13 to take on the Indians in a big district game. Although both defensives bailed out early pitching, it was the Indians who struck first and never gave up the lead. The Hawks sent three pitchers to the mound during the game trying to stop the hitting of the Indians. The Hawks did make a valiant come back attempt and even chased the Indian’s starting pitcher from the mound after bringing the tying run to the plate, but they simply ran out of outs and the Indians won 4-1. The Hawks next game was at home on Friday, March 16 as they hosted a struggling Terrell baseball team. The Hawks started Dylan Morales on the mound and Morales had the Tigers’ hitters chasing pitches all over the strike zone and many landing out of the strike zone. As good as Morales pitched, his fielders were just as good making difficult plays look routine. Even though Terrell did get a few runners on base during the game, most were either picked-off stealing or sent back to the dugout on double plays and the Hawks went on to win 8-0. The Hawks will travel to Forney on Friday, March 23, then return home to play Corsicana on Saturday, March 24 as ex-Red Oak Head Baseball Coach returns to play against his old team for the first time.
