The Ellis County Press: Tiger Battalion named 2012 State Champions Tiger Battalion named 2012 State Champions ================================================================================ Editor on 03/01/2012 12:41:00 Submitted by Sonya Cole-Hamilton LANCASTER - On Saturday, Feb. 25 the Lancaster High School, Tiger Battalion competed at the JROTC State American Legion Military Skills Championship. They competed against the top 30 JROTC teams in the state. The Tiger Academic team (The Geek Squad) placed first in the Academic Jeopardy event and first overall for the competition. The Black Guard, Male Color Guard placed third in Inspection, first in Performance, first overall for the competition. The commander, Junior, Chris Flowers placed first in the Commander event. The Black Guard Color Guard is the 2012 State Color Guard Champions The Orange Guard, Female Color Guard placed second in the Inspection event, second in the performance event and second overall for the competition. The Orange Crush, Unarmed Drill Team placed second in the inspection events, second in the squad inspection event, first in the Squad performance event, first overall in the Squad event, first in the regulation drill event, first in the exhibition (free style) event, and first overall for the competition. The Orange Crush Drill Team is the 2012 State Drill Team Champions. The Roaring Tigers, the male Physical Fitness team placed second in the team pushup event and Junior, Cadet Chris Flowers placed first overall in the individual event. The Roaring Tigerettes, the female Physical Fitness team placed first in the team Sit-up event, third in the team mile run event, and second overall for the competition. Senior, Cadet Danielle Inge placed second overall in the individual female event and Sophomore, Cadet Jabreal Arrington placed first overall in the individual female event. The JROTC competition teams, which consist of the Armed and Unarmed Drill Team, the Black and Orange Guard Color Guard, the Academic Team and the Male, and Female Physical Fitness Teams won 12 first place, 8 second place, and 3 third place trophies and 4 individual medals. The Tiger Battalion are the 2012 State JROTC Drill Team Champions Outstanding job cadets; we wish you great success as you prepare for the 2012 National Drill Team Championships.
