The Ellis County Press: Lady Hawks 1st Annual Softball Tournament = Success! Lady Hawks 1st Annual Softball Tournament = Success! ================================================================================ Steve Patterson on 12/08/2011 18:08:00 RED OAK - The Red Oak High School Baseball and Softball Booster Club and Lady Hawks Softball program held its first annual CO-ED softball tournament to raise funds for the booster club and Lady Hawks for their upcoming season. They also held a Home Run derby last Friday night for both men and women. 20 men signed up and competed in the men’s HR Derby with the winner going to Chris Smith (former ROHS grad) hitting 12 straight. In the women’s HR Derby it came down to two current ROHS varsity Lady Hawk players (Marley Dickert and Morgan Dufour) battling it out with Dufour taking the trophy. The actual tournament started Saturday morning at 8 a.m. Four teams had registered; ROBSA, Moving Pictures, Team Oliphant and The Coaches. At the end of the tournament it was “The Coaches” team that won the tournament. Although a few rain showers passed through during the day, it did not dampen the fun everyone had. It was a great friendly tournament and it was all for a great cause. A big thanks to Coach Tatum Thorne and Red Oak Independent School District Police Chief Scott Lindsey for serving as umpires all day for some reason, no one appealed the Chief’s calls in the field.
