Homecoming ceremonies started under a light rain that eventually turned into a moderate steady rain all night long. Red Oak started the game strong with a six-minute, ball-control drive that resulted in a halfback pass from Tanner Hunt to quarterback Austin Van Hove that converted a third-down-and-23 into a 49-yard touchdown pass. Poteet’s Steven Hicks scored three touchdowns and ran for 144 yards as Mesquite Poteet overcame a 7-0 deficit to overpower Red Oak at Billy Goodloe Stadium and go onto win 28-7. The Hawks, will have another tough test this Friday night when they travel to Waxahachie as the Indians look to open up the newly renovated Lumpkins Stadium with a win. Kick-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m..
