The Ellis County Press: Lady Hawks beat rival Waxahachie Lady Hawks beat rival Waxahachie ================================================================================ Steve Patterson on 12/16/2010 21:31:00 RED OAK - The Lady Hawks hosted the Waxahachie Lady Indians on Tuesday December 7, 2010 in a huge District 15-4A game. The Lady Indians got off to a quick start and forced the Lady Hawks into catch up mode most of the first half, but the game remained close. However the third quarter saw the Lady Hawks come out and play with much more intensity which translated into points. The Lady Hawks were able to tie the game and then the two teams traded leads several times into the fourth period. The difference in the fourth would be the Lady Hawks defense and free throw shooting. Some quick steals on inbound passes and trips to the free throw line began to frustrate the Lady Indians and change the score to the Lady Hawks favor. With 2:38 left in the fourth and a small lead, the Lady Hawks were able to run two minutes off the clock before the Lady Indians finally committed a foul, but the Lady Hawks hit both free throws giving them a 3 point lead. The Lady Indians made it interesting by scoring 2 quick points leaving 1.1 seconds left, but the Lady Hawks simply ran the clock out for the 54-53 dramatic win. The JV Lady Hawks did not fare as well as the Varsity game and lost their game 45-25.
