The Ellis County Press: 'Pink is the new Maroon' 'Pink is the new Maroon' ================================================================================ Steve Patterson on 10/21/2010 12:13:00 The ROHS held its annual "Pink Out" pep rally not only for the game against Forney on Friday night, but for cancer survivors. Besides hundreds of students, faculty, teachers and parents in attendance, there were some special invited quests. First, cancer survivors were invited to the pep rally and were seated on the main floor of the competition gym and second, members of the Red Oak Fire & Rescue were also there as special guests and had the distinct honor of awarding the Spirit Stick to the class that showed the most spirit at the pep rally. Prior to the spirit stick being awarded the ROHS Cheerleaders performed a cheer and stunt trying to win a contest sponsored by "FM 106.9 The Ranch" radio station. The cheer and stunt were videotaped and will be sent in to "The Ranch." Of course the A-team was there and put together another hilarious skit and the Color Guard and Hawkettes performed precision dance routines. Finally the spirit stick award. With the fire & rescue members at center court they listened to each class as they cheered, but in the end and with the "Spirit" they have, there was never any doubt the winners would be, the cancer survivors. The Red Oak Fire & Rescue handed the "Spirit Stick" to the group of amazing cancer survivors that attended the "Pink Out" pep rally.
