The Ellis County Press: Hawks roll in 2nd half against Forney Hawks roll in 2nd half against Forney ================================================================================ Steve Patterson on 10/21/2010 12:09:00 RED OAK - After two losing two straight years to Forney in district play, the Hawks certainly took out their frustrations against the Jackrabbits last Friday night. In a game that started out slow, with several mistakes, penalties, and a couple of turnovers by the Hawks, it quickly turned around in the second half for the Hawks. The Hawks offense did put together a good drive in the first half to take a 7-0 lead and their defense stood tough against Forney to keep the Hawks in control of the game. In the second half and sparked by Cameron Bausley (#34), the Hawks offense got things rolling. The Hawks offensive line opened up nice running lanes for Bausley who rushed for 127 yards on 11 carries. While the Hawks scored on nearly every possession they had in the second half, their defense simply shut down the Forney offense and forced many third and long situations which allowed the linebackers to put pressure on the Jackrabbits quarterback the entire second half including knocking their starter out of the game. His backup didn’t fare any better either. The Jackrabbits only score of the game came with time running out and with the Hawks substituting in less experienced players to avoid injuries to starters. The Hawks won a very important district game to stay close to a playoff spot. With both Lancaster and Waxahachie losing, the playoff picture will become very interesting these next few games. Up next for the Hawks they travel to take on a hot Corsicana team who beat Terrell last week. A win over Corsicana would put the Hawks in a good position to make the playoffs. Although the Tigers have been putting up a lot of points and out scoring their opponents, we will see how well they do against a stingy Hawks defense. Directions to the Corsicana stadium can be found on the ROISD Web site.
