Knight was recently elected Texas Municipal League (TML) Region 13 – North Central Texas Region President. Regions exist to promote interests in city government on a regional level, facilitate the exchange of information among the cities in a region, and assist the TML Board of Directors in formulating policy that represents the diverse interests of the state. Region 13 includes member cities within Collin, Dallas, Ellis, Rockwall, Kaufman, Van Zandt, Hunt, Fannin, and Grayson counties. Marcus E. Knight was elected mayor in the city of Lancaster in May 2008 and re-elected in 2012. Mayor Knight is the 2012 Chairman of the Best Southwest Partnership, immediate past President of the Metroplex Mayors Association, a volunteer with Big Brothers and Sisters, and currently serves on the North Texas Commission Board of Directors. He also is a member of the Methodist Charlton advisory board. The Texas Municipal League exists solely to provide services to Texas cities. Since its formation in 1913, the League’s mission has remained the same: to serve the needs and advocate the interests of its members. Membership in the League is voluntary and is open to any city in Texas. From the original 14 members, TML’s membership has grown to 1,121 cities.
