RED OAK - Assistant City Manager Todd Fuller announced at the Monday, Aug. 9 Red
Oak City Council Meeting the Wal-Mart Executive Committee has approved the
building of a Wal-Mart Super Center.
The property on which it will be built is located at the northeast quadrant of
Ovilla Road and Ryan Drive, extending to Burney Lane and behind several existing
businesses that front onto Ovilla Road.
Wal-Mart originally purchased the property in late 2003 and went through the
zoning and platting process to gain final approval from the city in 2006.
Subsequently, Wal-Mart put the project on hold until this recent project
approval was made by their executive committee.
Engineers are currently updating plans for the project and will be going through
an amendment process with the city and the Texas Department Of Transportation
over the next several months.
The new store’s expected opening date is sometime in 2012.
