Cedar Hill Thursday, June 10 Heavy Equipment Petting Zoo The Zula Wylie Public library is hosting its 5 th Annual Heavy Equipment Petting Zoo on Thursday, June 10 at 10 a.m. This event is a part of the annual Summer Reading Program which encourages children to read and provides incentive prizes for their efforts. Every Thursday a live entertainment program is held for all ages. The Heavy Equipment Petting Zoo offers an opportunity for children to explore the big machines used to provide services to Cedar Hill Residents. Desoto Monday, June 7 - Thursday, June 10 Desoto summer football camp for youth Looking for a great football camp for your kids this summer? Sign up for the Summer 2010 Eagle Football Camp and learn to soar. Camp will run June 7 - 10 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Eagle Stadium for students going into grades 2 thru 9. The cost is just $50 for the week and includes a t-shirt, awards and lunch after the last day! Youth will be broken out by age for all drills. Young campers will learn fundamentals of the game and beginning techniques for positions. Older players will receive more hands on practice in positions and instruction for plays. All supplies are provided. Search and rescue Nicholas Sims Library welcomes Mark-9 Search and Rescue. Join Sims Library Wednesday, June 16, from 10 - 11 a.m. as Mark-9 Search and Rescue presents Sit and Stay for ages 4 - 10. With the help of rescue dogs and their trainers, children are introduced to techniques to help alleviate their fears of being lost and learn how to protect themselves in case they are in a lost situation. As part of this program, children also get to meet the dogs of mark-9 and get a brief class on bite prevention. Fridays Games at Sims Library For several years, Sims Library has offered chess on Friday afternoons for area youth. They are now adding different game to this fun time at the library. Along with chess and checkers, participants will be able to play Sorry, Uno, Skip-bo and Boggle. If you have a favorite game, bring it along. Ages 10 and under play from 3 - 4 p.m. and ages 11 - 18 play from 4 - 5 p.m. every Friday afternoon.
