DESOTO - Hickory Trail Hospital, a Psychiatric Solutions Inc. facility, recently
announced the expansion of its youth services to include a dedicated pediatric
inpatient unit for children ages 5-12.
"Building Blocks" will allow the facility to provide treatment for an additional
10 children in a specialized inpatient environment and provide services specific
to children younger than age 13.
While Hickory Trail, an 86-bed private psychiatric hospital, has historically
worked with children and adolescents ages 5-17, "Building Blocks" fills the
demand from the local community for more specialized treatment.
"Our new Building Blocks pediatric unit is a unique program for our area," said
CEO Elicia Bunch.
"Building Blocks" utilizes an evidence-based curriculum of Trauma Based
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help children learn to cope with the difficult
experiences they have encountered.
