The Ellis County Press: Recounts demanded, nothing changed Recounts demanded, nothing changed ================================================================================ Editor on 05/20/2010 15:12:00 MEGAN GRAY The Ellis County Press DALLAS COUNTY - Recounts for area races were held at the Dallas County Elections Office on North Stemmons Freeway Monday, May 17 from races in Wilmer and Lancaster. An open records request to Wilmer City Secretary Alice Holloway showed Robert Wells, ex-police chief running for council and Hector Pena running for mayor, each requested a recount in their respected races. "Nothing changed during the recount," said Hollo-way. Lancaster Independent School District only had one contested race in District 3 this year between Incumbent and School Board President Carolyn Morris and Jeff Melcher. Melcher brought in the majority of the votes in all precincts in the district besides Morris' own. "Everything stayed the same," said Melcher after the recount. "I'm humbled and gratified by the faith voters in Lancaster District 3 have shown in me. I'm ready to serve the interests of all citizens, voters, taxpayers and especially the children of our school district."
