The Ellis County Press: Paying it forward in your community Paying it forward in your community ================================================================================ Editor on 12/17/2009 15:12:00 Recently, Citizens National Bank of Texas' Red Oak employees donated the $400 they raised selling lemonade at the annual Founder's Day Celebration to the Red Oak Police Explorer Post #1132. The Police Explorers are trained in many areas of police work including: arrest, search and seizure, report writing, professionalism and ethics. Once trained, the explorers ride out with the Police Officers and assist them by running the radio, completing traffic crash investigation forms, traffic control and direction and simply being an extra set of eyes to help spot in progress crimes and traffic violations. The Explorers receive no funding from any outside source and make all of their operating money by providing traffic and crowd control at the annual Reindeer Manor haunted house. "We know how much these kids have helped at numerous events and when we realized they were not funded, we decided to present them with the proceeds raised from our community service event at Foun-der's Day," said Nanette Paghi, Senior Vice President of CNB of Texas. For 2010 the Explorers plan on attending several competitions, including: the annual SWAT competition in Chandler, Ariz., Lake Jackson competition, State Competition at UT Dallas and the National Conference in Atlanta, Ga. "Your Red Oak Police Explorers routinely do very well at these competitions and are feared by any team that has come up against them in the past. "I anticipate them doing extremely well this year," said Sgt. Jim Langham, Red Oak Police Department. For more information on how you can help the Red Oak Police Explorers, contact Sgt. Jim Langham at 972-617-7632.
