During the Sept. 1 DeSoto city council meeting, Cedar Hill Councilman and 2010 Chair-Elect Wade Emmert announced the organization's plans to extend an associate level membership to surrounding cities. "I've learned that one city does not succeed or fail by itself," said Emmert. "We all succeed or fail as a region." Plans for growth will take place next year to expand membership to the cities of Ferris, Glenn Heights, Hutchins, Midl-othian, Ovilla, Red Oak and Wilmer. The accompanying cities will serve an important function, allowing for a discussion of important regional issues. "I am glad to see the additional cities being involved," said DeSoto Mayor Bobby Waddle during the meeting. "As the region continues to grow and build coalition in the southern sector together, it will pay dividends."
