The Ellis County Press: Midlothian ISD hosting “School Walk for Diabetes” Midlothian ISD hosting “School Walk for Diabetes” ================================================================================ Editor on 10/09/2008 16:27:00 Midlothian - On Oct. 16, the schools of the Midlothian ISD will host a School Walk for Diabetes event to help raise funds to find a cure, provide education and promote prevention. School Walk for Diabetes is an educational fund-raising program of the American Diabetes Association that teaches students the benefits of making healthy life choices, including getting daily exercise and eating nutritious foods The walk will take place between 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Midlothian ISD track and field. Participants may attend any time. Meet the Texas Rangers mascot, Rangers Captain, and win door prizes such as tickets to collegiate sporting events, gas cards, concert tickets and much more. Midlothian ISD raised $8,000 last year for School Walk for Diabetes. This year's goal is to raise $20,000 for diabetes research, prevention and advocacy. The school that raises the most funds will receive a trophy, which will be passed on to next year's winner. Top student fundraisers will be awarded SWFD medals presented by Rangers Captain.
