WAXAHACHIE - On May 9 and 10, Ellis County Christian Homeschool Organization's
theatre troupe presented Scots on the Rocks, a hilarious spoof of Shakespeare's
Macbeth.
Singing witches, three murderous stooges and a Macbeth bearing a strange
resemblance to legendary funnyman Lou Costello keep the laughs coming.
These free performances began at 7 p.m. both nights at the Lyceum, the theatre
located upstairs at Sims Library, 515 W. Main St. in Waxahachie.
The troupe also performed during Student Days at Scarborough Faire.
The play featured 22 homeschooled students: David Harllee, Dallas (Macbeth);
Sarah Carr, Red Oak (Lady Macbeth); Deborah Harllee, Dallas (Witch-Witch); Emma
Perry, Milford (Weird-Witch); Allena Perry, Milford (Spell-Witch); Travis
Jackson, Milford (Banquo); Alex Hedtke, Red Oak (King Duncan); Sky Holman, Glenn
Heights (Malcolm); Gregory Pope, Italy (Sergeant/Murderer/Messenger); Saraya
Stewart, Waxahachie (Murderer); Rebekah Jackson, Milford (Murderer); Garrett
Marshall, Ennis (Macduff); Matthew Briggs, Rice (Ross); Kenneth Briggs, Rice
(Soldier/Doctor); Junior Watson, Red Oak (Donalbain/Porter); Sady Johnson,
Ovilla (Lennox); Alyssa Hopson, Waxahachie (Hamlet/Seyton/Attendant); Gillian
Perry (Juliet/Attendant); Eric Hedtke, Red Oak (Servant); Anique Stewart,
Waxahachie (Gentlewoman); Ashleigh Breeding, Cedar Hill (Gentlewoman); and
Matthew Breeding, Cedar Hill (Fleance).
The play has been adapted and was performed with permission from author Richard
Nathan.
