The Ellis County Press: Cubicle Cowboy being filmed near Ferris Cubicle Cowboy being filmed near Ferris ================================================================================ Michael Seiber on 12/01/2011 11:00:00 FERRIS - The week of Nov. 7-11 Coffee Productions was in the Ferris area filming for a new “sizzle pilot” or sitcom, and it is currently being pitched to various forms of media. “Cubicle Cowboy” is a pilot for a situational comedy being shot mockumentary style. Readers familiar with “The Office” or “Parks and Recreation” will enjoy the storyline. It is a satire on the many colorful Texas characters, specifically in the Dallas social scene. On Monday and Friday they were shooting at Spirit Field Productions, owned by local residents, J.D and Gay Horman, off FM 660, south of Ferris. Spirit Field Productions property has been utilized for film, print, movies, commercials, short films and weddings. Earlier in the week they were filming at Pueblito’s Meat Market, on Main Street in Ferris. “We had a lot of fun. They were here for about three hours doing several scenes,” said Pueblito’s Owner Michael Martinez. Producer/actor Luke Coffee, Dallas along with co-writer/producer Corbin Barker recently finished a full length picture “Language of a Broken Heart,” filmed in Dallas and currently making the circuit of various film festivals around the U.S. Coffee is now doing productions and has been acting for approximately 15-20 years and has been seen in several movies and commercials, now is producing shows. “It’s great that Ferris has become a hot spot for film crews,” said Coffee. Several of the actors/actresses appearing are; Luke Coffee who plays Skyler, a low-down, country, real estate agent in the middle of Dallas. Kate French, as Vicki Overton, Skylers’ love interest and old high school flame. Domi-N-que Perry, has been acting for over 16 years, performing in musicals and stage plays. She plays A B C D E (pronounced Ab-so-dee) Jones, Skylers’ hot African-American secretary. She was once an exotic dancer until Skyler saved her from that life style. French has appeared in a number of television series and independent films. She also recently shot in Los Angeles, for a new series, called “Up All Night,” appearing on NBC. She has appeared in the independent film, “Language of a Broken Heart” produced by Coffee and Spirit Field Productions owner, Gay Horman, assisting with hair, makeup and wardrobe. In January 2012 French is scheduled to start filming “Liqourice” to be released later in 2012. An interesting side note, “Liqourice” is considered an ECO movie, (the first of its’ kind), being filmed environmentally friendly, by using makeup, lighting, and recycled products throughout production of the film.
