ELLIS  COUNTY - Ellis County was declared eligible for Farm Service Agency (FSA)
disaster emergency loans on Friday,  June 24.
Farmers who have lost at least 30 percent of their production due to drought,
excessive heat, high winds and wildfires are eligible for FSA loans.
Proceeds from crop insurance are taken into consideration when determining
eligibility.
FSA Farm Loan Manager Bashir Duale is urging farmers interested in receiving an
emergency loan to submit their applications in early rather than waiting until
near the deadline Feb. 24, 2012.
“The longer they wait, the more chance there is for long delays,” said
Duale.
“If the applications come in early, we can avoid backlogs and speed up the
process.”
