The Ellis County Press: ROHS students receive more than $1 million in scholarships ROHS students receive more than $1 million in scholarships ================================================================================ Steve Patterson on 05/26/2011 12:41:00 RED OAK - The annual scholarship awards night was held Tuesday, May 17 at the ROHS PAC. At the Senior awards, students were awarded scholarships totaling $1,385,275 ($129,640 were local awards). Triumphant Hawk awards were given to; Math Christopher McClure, Social Studies Katelyn McWilliams, NJROTC Cecilia Ortiz, Science Christopher McClure, Fine Arts Brandon Loera, ELAR Katelyn McWilliams, Foreign Language Diana Pena, CTE Eric Padron, Don Powers and Shayna Thomas. Principal’s Awards went to; Citizenship: Keith Sanders and Ke’Yauna Jones and Academic Timothy Pape and Gabrielle Pena. President criteria is a 3.5 GPA on 4.0 scale and 24+ on ACT or 1050+ on SAT and UIL recipients are in the top 10 percent of class and have participated in at least one UIL activity (academic, athletic or music) during high school. Principal’s Academic Award is based on leadership, scholarship, involvement and character. The Citizenship Award is based on leadership, service mindedness, relationships and school involvement.
