The Ellis County Press: Ellis County Republican Women to hold monthly meeting Ellis County Republican Women to hold monthly meeting ================================================================================ Editor on 01/13/2011 19:18:00 Submitted by Kim Garlitz The Ellis County Republican Women will meet Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 7 p.m. at the historic Rogers Hotel in Waxahachie. This month’s speaker will be Diana Phillips, the Regional Executive Director for Big Brothers and Big Sisters. The public is welcome to attend this free event. Phillips also manages mentor recruitment efforts, oversees fund development efforts and develops corporate relationships throughout the region to meet the needs of the children from eight different school districts. She has been with the Big Brothers Big Sisters for 13 years and has also served as a Big Sister to four young ladies during that time. She is a member of the Rotary Club and the Waxahachie and Midlothian Chambers of Commerce. Ellis County Republican Women was organized in 1982 and is dedicated to increasing the effectiveness of women in the cause of good government through active political participation in Ellis County. Community outreach programs include The Dictionary Project, which distributes 2,500 dictionaries to third-graders in Ellis County, The TFRW Constitution Day Project, which distributes 2,600 copies of the Constitution to Ellis County fifth-graders, and a Scholarship program for local high school Seniors. ECRW is a working organization of dynamic and diverse women who choose to volunteer their time and talents to raise funds for their community projects while educating women about the political process and how to become involved in their local, state and federal government.
