The Ellis County Press: Grandfriends Week in Waxahachie ISD successful once again Grandfriends Week in Waxahachie ISD successful once again ================================================================================ Nicole Mansell on 09/23/2010 16:02:00 WAXAHACHIE - Grand-friends from near and far transcended upon Waxahachie Independent School District schools this past week to join their loved ones for lunch and story time. The annual tradition, held each September, is a huge hit with both the students and their Grandfri-ends. Guests participated at the WISD Child Care Center, Marvin, Dunaway, Felty, Northside, Wedgeworth and Shackelford Elementaries, Clift Middle School, Finley 7th Grade Center, Howard 8th Grade Center and the Waxa-hachie Ninth Grade Academy. "This has always been a very special time for our students," stated Melissa Cobb, Partners in Education Coordinator. "Last year more than 2,000 grandfriends joined WISD students from our own Waxahachie community, across the state and beyond and we expect when the final numbers come in this year for them to be just as high. This is a wonderful opportunity to encourage our students to pursue intergenerational relationships," Cobb said.
