One hundred colleges and universities from across the nation will be on hand to recruit new students and answer questions. The event, Thursday, Sept. 16 from 7:30-9 p.m. at DeSoto High School, 600 Eagle Drive, allows students to explore various degree opportunities and college experiences. Prior to the fair from 6:30-7:30 p.m., students and parents are invited to a "Making College Financial Planning Count" seminar in the high school auditorium. Planning early for college is the key to making it happen. An estimated 1,000 local students and their parents will attend the event organized by the DeSoto High School counselors. All DeSoto High School seniors will have individual counselor sessions the week of September 20-24 to evaluate their senior year and post-diploma plans. On Thursday, Oct. 14, De-Soto High School counselors will launch their Coffee with the Counselors series for parents from 8-9 a.m. The casual event allows parents to ask questions and stay informed about college and career planning, courses, testing, guidance programs and scholarship opportunities.
