The Ellis County Press: Deputies to the rescue Deputies to the rescue ================================================================================ Editor on 07/01/2010 10:13:00 MEGAN GRAY The Ellis County Press ENNIS - Ellis County Sheriff deputies and a handful of brave civilians placed their lives on the line late Sunday evening to rescue a woman from a car engulfed in flames. Jamie Nash was trapped in her car during a one vehicle wreck Sunday, June 27, a little after 10 p.m. off FM 85, three miles east of I-45 ,when a sergeant from the ECSO responded to the scene. According to sheriff's reports, Nash was screaming for help burning in her driver's seat when six deputies -two being rookies in training- tried getting the fire down for her rescue using five fire extinguishers with no prevail. Using a water-filled ditch and ice chests full of water, Nash was pried out of her car with a crow bar in pain, but alive, where she was then air lifted to Parkland hospital in Dallas. Department of Public Safety worked the crash and said Charles Burk, Richard Blanger and Jona Willemson were the honorable citizens who stopped for help. Ennis Police Department also assisted the scene.
