Gun bust nets 28 assault rifles, ammo

A 18-wheeler traveling Southbound on IH-35 headed to Laredo, Texas was stopped
by Ellis County Sheriff's Officers Friday, April 9 and discovered 28 assault
rifles, approximately 700 rounds of ammunition, and loaded magazines concealed
inside the legitimate trailer load.
Deputies asked for and received consent to search the 18-wheeler from the
driver; whose name is being withheld for investigative reasons.
The truck driver agreed to move the 18-wheeler to a location better suited to
allow for a search of the truck and trailer and drove to the Wal-Mart in
Waxahachie.
Deputies off-loaded the legitimate load destined and discovered the hidden guns.
