The Ellis County Press: Reporter parts ways with ECP Reporter parts ways with ECP ================================================================================ Editor on 02/25/2010 09:58:00 MEGAN GRAY The Ellis County Press FERRIS - Last week while citizens across the county were clearing up leftover debris from the record breaking snowfall of 2010, Joey Dauben, former News Editor/ Reporter/Columnist of _The Ellis County Press_ was packing his things to go off to a political convention in Washington D.C. "You can be a journalist, an activist or a blogger, you can't be all three if you want to hold a high-quality standard for a newspaper," said Publisher Charles D. Hatfield Jr. While Hatfield wishes Dauben the best in his future describing him as a "very smart and talented writer" the paper is going in a different direction and there are changes being put in place to bring a higher level of professionalism at the paper. "After a decade of journalism and my two Internet companies being closed two weeks ago, I had to re-focus and find a way to for one, replace almost $3,000 in monthly income that was just cut off, and two, re-examine my political roles," said Dauben. "Parting ways was exactly what God had in mind." "I love _The Ellis County Press_ and consider the Hatfield family an extension of my own family. They provided a lot of tools and resources for me to carry out their mission - and God's plan - to defend truth and freedom," said 29-year-old Dauben.
