The Ellis County Press: Free mammograms for uninsured women living in Ellis, Kaufman and Rockwall counties Free mammograms for uninsured women living in Ellis, Kaufman and Rockwall counties ================================================================================ Editor on 11/03/2009 17:49:00 UT Southwestern Medical Center is providing free mammograms for uninsured women living in Ellis, Kaufman and Rockwall counties. Mammograms are funded by a grant from the Breast Cancer Relief Foundation. WHEN: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009 WHERE: First Assembly of God Church 3101 S. Houston St., Kaufman (Intersection of Highway 34 and FM 1388) The screenings will be provided inside a mobile mammography van. The mobile unit - the first in the Southwest U.S. to provide digital screenings - houses state-of-the-art technology in a self-contained 18-wheeler coach designed inside to look like a standard medical office. The screening takes about 30 minutes, and the images are transmitted to UT Southwestern's Center for Breast Care, where radiologists read the images for evidence of breast cancer. Patients receive results within a week. The grant also provides for diagnostic follow-up, if needed. Because screenings are limited, it is required that you pre-register by calling 214-645-2560.
